Fallingwater is one of the buildings that has inspired me to study architecture. Its integration into the natural environment, such as being built over a waterfall creates a connection to the surrounds. This integration is evident through the boulders from the site which protrude into the building, the use of stones from the location in the construction itself (in the fireplace), and the water which still flows beneath it. Wright used many design ideas to create the sense of unification with the environment such as placing the glass from the windows directly into the stone instead of using a steal frame. The building utilises cantilevering in its design which creates strong vertical lines, and the ambiance of the natural environment can be heard throughout the entire building.
