My best creative works is...

This is my visual arts major titled musician's mind. I was inspired by the world of music, as well as my own personal experience with writing and playing songs. By using mixed media including wax, paint and found objects, such as guitar strings, I was able to express the way that music has influenced me. The image is of a guitarist who is being "blown away" into the sky as his guitar is turning into dust (its a bit hard to tell from the image) over a landscape which has been influenced by the shape of musical instruments. There is also original lyrics and written music, as well as personal notes hidden in the work.

The building that inspired me to be an architect is Fallingwater, by Frank Lloyd Wright;

Fallingwater is one of the buildings that has inspired me to study architecture. Its integration into the natural environment, such as being built over a waterfall creates a connection to the surrounds. This integration is evident through the boulders from the site which protrude into the building, the use of stones from the location in the construction itself (in the fireplace), and the water which still flows beneath it. Wright used many design ideas to create the sense of unification with the environment such as placing the glass from the windows directly into the stone instead of using a steal frame. The building utilises cantilevering in its design which creates strong vertical lines, and the ambiance of the natural environment can be heard throughout the entire building.

I have an original photo of a sunrise, but my scanner is playing up so im unable to post it here. I took the photo on my year 12 retreat about this time last year, in which my friends and I woke up in the early hours of the morning to watch. The sun reflecting off the water was enough inspiration for me to go inside and get a camera, and I took some shots of the glowing water through some foliage which was silhouetted by the light.
